How Did The Jersey Devil Form?
Some top-notch psychics, seers, and mystics have indicated they feel the presence of an evil entity bound to the Pine Barrens by the unholy union of three parents creating an unlucky 13th child. Mother Leeds was rumored to be a wicked witch who dabbled in demonic magic. This caused her husband to become inadvertently possessed by a demon. Some say it was the Devil but this highly doubtful due to the unimportance of the situation. If the demonic possession was down to the genetic level, it would have created a Demi-Demon. Most likely the dark spiritual energy of the demon entered into the conception.
The Creation Of A Blasphemous Beast Bound To The Barrens
When the demon finally left the husband, it was momentarily drawn to that evil energy within the fetus just as a human soul was being installed from Heaven. This launched the demon into the fetus trapping it there as the soul scattered into an enchanted energy field after exploding into the demon. More or less the demonic spirit became intertwined with the fetus causing it to mutate into the blasphemous beast we know as the Jersey Devil. Upon birth it blasted out of Mother Leeds killing her instantly as it ate the entire family before flying away into the dark cold night! It’s unusual unholy conception and the extinguishment of a family that technically was its own caused curse of sorts to form. A curse fed by 13 human souls (Mother doesn’t count since it was inadvertent and she had a dark cruel soul) that binds the Jersey Devil to the Pine Barrens for all eternity as it is potentially immortal.
Eyewitness Accounts That Haunt
I’ve personally interviewed forest rangers, hunters, and even police officers who have had harrowing encounters with this evil entity. One such case involved a man who claimed the creature attacked his campsite, shredding his tent with what appeared to be talon marks while emitting an unearthly screech. The man was visibly shaken, and what struck me was the sincerity and detail in his account. Another case involved a family who heard wing beats and heavy stomping on their roof in the dead of night, only to find hoofprints on the snow-covered shingles the next morning. The perplexing prints were leading up to, but not away from, the edge of the roof.
Gathering Evidence in the Barrens
Mystic Investigations has conducted multiple investigations deep in the Pine Barrens, using motion-activated trail cams, night vision drones, and sound-recording equipment. On one occasion, we captured a brief clip of a large, winged silhouette soaring between the trees. Something far too big to be a known bird native to the region. The sound recorders picked up a low-pitched, wailing cry that defied comparison to any known animal call. To the untrained ear, it might sound like the wind, but spectral analysis revealed frequency patterns inconsistent with environmental noise.
