In the 2022 film Violent Night, we witness a Santa Claus in a Parallel Universe unlike our own. In our reality Santa is a holy Demi-Angel who is also the Saint Nicholas. In that world the Great Claus was a Viking Warrior who became something more through ancient magic.

Legends whisper that he was once a Norse warrior known as Nikolaus of the North, a raider sworn to protect his people from winter famine and marauding clans. Where other warriors took gold, Nikolaus took supplies such as grain, mead, and weapons. He also rescued children from burning villages thus earning both fear and gratitude in equal measure.
Odin’s Midwinter Bargain
His immortality, hinted at but never fully explained in the film, finds its roots in Norse Mythology. Nikolaus is said to have crossed paths with Odin, the All-Father himself, during a midwinter blót. Odin, wandering Midgard in disguise as he often did, tested Nikolaus’s character by asking for shelter. Instead of gold or glory, Nikolaus offered warmth, food, and protection. Pleased, Odin bound him to Yggdrasil, the World Tree, granting him unnatural longevity so long as he continued to walk the realms as a guardian of the innocent. Each Winter Solstice, Nikolaus’s life-force is renewed, tethered to the ancient rhythms of the Nine Realms.
Relics of the Old Gods
The magical items Santa wields in Violent Night are echoes of this divine bargain. His seemingly endless endurance mirrors the berserker rage, a sacred fury blessed by Odin, allowing him to fight on long after mortal limits are broken. His trusty hammer-like weapons evoke Mjölnir, not as a copy, but as a symbolic descendant. An impressive array of enchanted tools forged by dwarven smiths of Svartalfheim, designed to shatter bone and ice alike. Even his toy sack, impossibly deep and always at hand, is rumored to be stitched with runes of Hliðskjálf, allowing it to draw forth exactly what the moment demands whether a gift… or a weapon!
