There has been some debate as to whether humans are naturally herbivores or omnivores. However, it’s rather obvious we have always been Omnivores. After all, it’s difficult to wander around the wild wilderness and get enough protein from plants. It was our intake of animal protein that increased our brain size thereby propelling our evolution from ape into human. Those humans cursed with Lycanthropy are naturally violently voracious Carnivores in their Werewolf form amid the shadows of the full Moon. The rest of the month in human form they are still mostly Carnivorous. They can still consume the fruits, vegetables, and grains they enjoyed before becoming a Werewolf. Although it’s to a far lesser extent as they deeply crave meat more than anything, and they will consume up to three times more than a human counterpart of the same weight. Werewolves generally eat six large meat based meals a day!
A werewolf has an extremely high metabolism even in human form since they still display enhanced superhuman strength, speed, agility, and senses. This metabolism is the reason why you never see a fat Werewolf. There’s also the fact that they must have the ability to digest a particularly big kill from their previous night as a werewolf. Imagine consuming a whole deer just minutes before the sun is about to rise, and then having that inside the average human’s digestive system. You can probably picture the extremely uncomfortable results! Thankfully a decent amount will be supernaturally digested during the de-transformation.
The Vegetarian Werewolf?
There are very few Werewolves that can pull off being a vegetarian or vegan. They are generally those who are deep meditation masters, and have full control of their transformations. They cultivate the power of the wolf who is of Mother Earth rather than the demonic blood thirsty monster that is the core of the Lycanthrope curse. Such Werewolves may only transform into a large wolf, and never become that monster again. However while in wolf form they must consume meat to keep the demon at bay. By living this way these wolves do weaken themselves, and are vulnerable to attack from other Werewolves along with Werewolf Hunters.
The Plants All Werewolves Will Eat
There are three known forms of plant life all Werewolves will consume if presented with it. The Solanum lycocarpum, also called the Wolf Apple, is a flowering shrub that matures into a tomato like fruit in the Brazilian Savanna. It’s said to be Mother Nature’s response to the Werewolf menace since the fruit quells violence in the beasts, and temporarily takes away the need for meat consumption when consumed in large quantities. Some say it may be a key ingredient in a potential cure for Lycanthropy. To a lesser extent Wolfberry, aka Goji Berries, along with some species of Lupine can aid in a wolfs quest to turn away from the demonic Werewolf darkness, and turn their curse into a supernatural blessing. It’s usually recommended that a Werewolf consult a botanical expert before utilizing Lupine since some species are actually Werewolf repellants, and can be poisonous to them. In some cases the flower of the plant might be okay while the legume seed is poison, and vice versa.
