Ghosts
Ghost animals are very rare but they do in fact exist. They’re usually an intelligent mammal attached to a human such as a dog or cat. In some cases there has been dolphin, and Gorilla ghosts unrelated to a human. Generally the animal has died in a tragic way with the human being or witnessed something horrifying happening to their master before they died.
Unless the deceased relative is a ghost then it’s not likely you’ll be able to communicate with him without major professional paranormal intervention. It’s the same reason why all dead relatives don’t simply come back and visit us. Clearly in the great beyond, freed of their physical body, they’d have the power to return in at least a ghostly format.
