We are weeks away now from the premier event of the year in the supernatural world.\u00a0 Halloween is a much anticipated holiday among paranormal creatures as they can blend in among those decked in costumes of horror and fantasy.\u00a0 Some choose to have fun and blend into the festivities while others use it to get close to people as apart of their nefarious agenda.\u00a0 We at Mystic Investigations stand ready to take down these filthy fiends and the evil the perpetuate upon humankind.<\/p>\n
However we do enjoy the holiday and the office is all decked out in full paranormal paraphernalia.\u00a0 We have cobwebs, small animatronic beasts, figurines,\u00a0black lights, brewing witches cauldron, window decals, and more!\u00a0 Local kids love coming in to see our supernatural set-up.\u00a0 Naturally my house is looking pretty haunted as well including the front yard display complete with tombstones, zombies half out of the ground, fog machines, spooky lights, haunted sounds coming out of hidden speakers, and even a hologram generator to make “ghosts” fly about.\u00a0 And of course lets not forget the candle lit Jack O Lanterns.\u00a0 Me and my girlfriend, Rebecca, love greeting the trick o treaters and giving them a little scare as well.\u00a0 Rebecca will often perform witchcraft on Halloween since it can be chalked up to being the work of machines or common trickery.<\/p>\n
Mystic Investigations is also sponsoring this years Woodland Springs Haunted House located at the old\u00a0Griggs Mansion deep in the mystical forest.\u00a0 The house itself has a long haunted history and was one of the first homes built in here in 1861 by our towns founder, Mortimer J Griggs.\u00a0 He started the town after he struck major gold at Pikes Peak.\u00a0\u00a0The Haunted Griggs House was the\u00a0first case Mystic Investigations undertook.\u00a0 Obviously we cleansed the house of it’s poltergeist activity or we wouldn’t allow kids to go there.\u00a0 Still every so often there’s a little sound or you swear something has moved and it makes wonder.\u00a0 I’ve been there about three times over the last few weeks decorating the old home kept in decent shape thanks to the Woodland Springs Historical Society. Still it looks like the quintessential haunted house.<\/p>\n
To make a long story short, Mortimer was murdered by his wife in 1889.\u00a0 She apparently married him for his wealth and had no need of him once she found a younger man she loved.\u00a0 They say for several decades Mortimer haunted the house and that his brief physical manifestation murdered his wife in 1903.\u00a0 Since then the house was seemingly haunted by the couple who were thought to be fighting with each other trapped within the cursed walls.\u00a0\u00a0 The curse may have come from a Comanche Indian tribe who lived in Woodland Springs.\u00a0 Rumor had it that Mortimer accidentally shot a Comanche Princess while hunting deer.<\/p>\n
When we took on the case we figured out that everyone who died in the house ended up being trapped in the house damned to haunt it forever.\u00a0 So we had all these angry spirits fighting with each other and an Indian curse binding them to the house.\u00a0 All I can say is that it was one big scary mess but we came through it alright.\u00a0 I might retell the complete tale here sometime.<\/p>\n
Anyway the haunted house is open and everyone seems to really be enjoying it.\u00a0 On Halloween there will be a special event run by the local Chamber Of Commerce and sponsored by us.\u00a0 While trick o treating on Halloween there will be clues to a treasure\u00a0hidden around the town.\u00a0 At each place with a clue there will be a person dressed as a scary supernatural figure who will jump out of the bushes, roar, howl, or whatever.\u00a0\u00a0 12 finalists will end up at the haunted house for the final round.\u00a0 There are many surprises planned to make it the scariest night of their life.\u00a0 They will have to solve a mock murder and uncover clues leading to the fake murderer and ultimately the treasure they killed for.\u00a0 The mansion is quite large and has many secret panels and corridors.\u00a0 It ought to be great frightening fun for everyone.<\/p>\n
The winner\u00a0will get the treasure which is very small chest of gold worth $5,000 along with a years supply of Howling Harry’s Fine Chocolates(a local confectioner).\u00a0 They will also get to submit three free cases to us for investigation and get to live in the mansion for one week complete with Butler and maid.\u00a0 As a sponsor none of us at Mystic Investigations can enter the contest however we will be at the haunted house for the final round which begins at Midnight.<\/p>\n
It’s time to go home now and let our receptionist Carrie lock up the office.\u00a0 She’s giving me that “I want to go home to my kids” look so I think it’s time to call it a day.\u00a0 My girlfriend Rebecca is cooking a fine meal and Drake the vampire is stopping over to discuss a troll whose been squatting under various bridges around town causing havoc.\u00a0 I also have to stop at Hannah’s Halloween Shoppe to get fitted for a costume.\u00a0 I’m not sure what I want to be for Halloween yet.\u00a0 My girlfriend is tired of being a witch and she might be leaning toward vampire.\u00a0 I wish all who read this a happy Halloween season and a wonderful autumn!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
