It was a cold blistery winter day in January of 2000 as Elizabeth walked up on the platform to speak to a gathering crowd. She was only 24 years old and running in a recall election to replace the corrupt towns mayor, Jed Hankerson. The growing community wanted an honest and straight forward person to be their mayor and who better than a native daughter who had always been active in the community. She was an honor student in high school, a champion on the swim team, and as the head cheerleader she rooted her football team onto victory many a time. She always volunteered in the community and made the news at 17 when she saved a little boy during a flood as she spotted him washing down stream while bagging sand. Although small in stature at 5'7" she packed a mean punch with her black belt in jujitsu she acquired by age 18. She majored in political science and history while attending college before getting a position in Mayor Hankerson's administration. No one but a few knew she was the one who brought the Mayor to justice. She anonymously turned over information to the police about his nefarious activities which had links to crime families. As she recited her speech from memory with a serene charismatic confidence about her the crowd listened intently with adoration for her beauty and charm. The eloquence of her words of wisdom moved the crowd as her angelic voice washed over them like a soothing embrace.
