Can Zombies Walk Up Stairs?

Some might think the thought of Zombies climbing up steps as a little too human considering their walking dead state. However, zombies can indeed navigate staircases in a rudimentary manner. Normally they will stagger about on relatively flat surfaces with the occasional stumbling and even tripping over bumps and obstructions. They mostly ignore steps unless there is movement or a smell coming from the direction of the stairs in question. Certainly, you shouldn’t believe running up steps is an escape to freedom when a horde of zombies is chasing you!

Fortunately, they will move slower and many times they end up crawling rather than walking up steps. If the staircase is going down then there’s an excellent chance the zombies will trip and fall down the flight. This, of course, means they will catch up with you quicker. Unfortunately, the fall won’t really hurt them. The ones suffering from advanced rot may lose some body parts but that sure as hell won’t stop them from going for you! Running up steps quickly and then hoping the rails back down to the next staircase can be a distracting evasion maneuver.

You stand a better chance on moving escalators which confuse the hell out of them thereby giving you a pretty good chance of evading the cannibalistic corpses. Elevators can be great places to trap them but on the other hand a dangerous place to be if cornered by a number of living dead. Naturally during a zombie apocalypse the power would be out and these options would be closed to you.

During a zombie apocalypse you should exercise caution in stairwells as there could be zombies trapped on landings between floors. Once whatever lured them there has ceased they’ll just lurch back and forth in place and eventually freeze following their natural behavior of avoiding the steps. This is only the case if doors are present since operating knobs is beyond their comprehension. Newly minted zombies may have some residual instinctual memory of using the steps when they were human. These zombies would therefore not avoid staircases. Thankfully those memories fade quickly!

Is Fire An Effective Zombie Lure And Destroy Method?

Unlike Frankenstein’s, Zombies have no fear of fire because they feel no emotions to begin with. Fires can be an effective lure for zombies. Particularly at night where the light will stand out the most. Flaming torches can be a fine weapon for one on one combat but larger fires are far better for hellish hordes. The sudden glare, crackling noise, and of course the heat attracts them. A behemoth of a blaze can override the attraction to human body heat along with the smoke covering one’s scent as well.  A zombie horde can be easily led away from your party of apocalypse survivors with a well placed bonfire. A gas, or oil fueled fire in a garbage dump, ditch, or body of water is the perfect trap for the Walking Dead!

Fires can lure zombies away from innocents, and into the hands of waiting warriors ready to pounce with extreme prejudice. If the fire is large enough then the mindless zombies will walk right into it and burn themselves to bones, and ash! Remember you’re a freaking genius compared to literal brain dead zombies! In the end that is the downfall of the rotting animated corpses!

What Are The Various Types Of Apocalypses?

An Apocalypse is a global disaster that more or less ends the world as we know it.  Human civilization is virtually wiped out along with a great deal of humanity itself. This includes blatant death or transformation into some manner of supernatural creature. An Apocalypse is a forced descent back to the dark ages as we deal with the horrifying aftermath of any given apocalypse.  The grand daddy of Apocalypses is of course Armageddon which is the battle between higher dimensional supernatural forces over who will rule over the planet Earth, and its populace. Amid Armageddon one or more of the major apocalypses could transpire forming a truly nightmarish planet of darkness!  We’ve categorized End Of The World Scenarios as Supernatural, Non-Supernatural, and Future Apocalypses Currently Considered Science Fiction:

Supernatural Apocalypses

  • Alien Apocalypse – Extraterrestrial invasion forces lay waste to Earth! Then they either enslave or exterminate humankind as they plunder our planet’s natural resources! Just like the aforementioned robots they might very well cage us in zoos here on Earth, on their home planet, and around the galaxy.
  • Magical Apocalypse – A clandestine cabal of Sorcerers, Wizards, Warlocks, and Witches let loose their magic to the max around the world causing catastrophic calamity!
  • Monster Apocalypse – Any group of Monsters suddenly grows rapidly in numbers by various means, and proceeds to do what they do best. Terrorize, and kill humans while destroying massive amounts of property!
  • Zombie Apocalypse – The most famous of the supernatural apocalypses is almost synonymous with the word apocalypse. Second only to the Nuclear Apocalypse. The Zombie Virus is notorious for resurrecting the dead, and turning the living into Walking Dead who mindlessly cannibalize humans. They are in turn devoured completely or turned into zombies themselves.  Should a strain of the virus be strong enough to be transmitted with greater ease then this apocalypse could be a reality.  So far you must be bitten by a zombie or come into contact with nasty zombified fluids.
